February 4 question - Many writers have written about the experience of rereading their work years later. Have you reread any of your early works? What was that experience like for you?

For years I couldn't bring myself to reread my books. Once in a blue moon I'd read a paragraph, and wince. Since my writing career began, I never had any creative writing or grammar courses. I honed my craft from reading, reading, and reading. Then writing, writing, and rewriting, which led to endless editing. I have learned so so much, and I'm still learning so so much!

Now, around 15 years later (give or take a few years) I Have re-edited a few of my earlier works, and uploaded the new version on Amazon. Hoping everyone will enjoy their reading experience and the adventures within.

Have you reread or rewritten any of your books?

November 5 question - When you began writing, what did you imagine your life as a writer would be like? Were you right, or has this experience presented you with some surprises along the way?

Let me remember...(touches finger to lips) hmmm...I never thought I'd actually finish writing a book. (Me? Write a book? LOL) I think my kids chuckled seeing my persistence. When it came into existence, I hadn't expected the ceaseless editing process. In my heart, I felt it would be published.

As a newbie writer I had A LOT to learn...A LOT!! For those starting out, unless your debut is Fourth Wing, it's not glamorous in the least.

Words to write by:
PERVERANCE
PERSIST
DON'T GIVE UP HOPE

October 1 question - What is the most favorite thing you have written, published or not? And why?

My ya/contemporary, Incense and Peppermints is close to my heart.

It's a work of fiction based on factual occurrence's. It takes place in 1969 during the escalation of the Viet Nam War when the draft hung over young 18 year olds like a guillotine. It was also a time of massive protests against the war, hippies, flower power, Woodstock, drugs, and a music revolution.

I waited a long time to write this book due to certain people mentioned, although, their names are changed and many have since died. Readers, if not familiar with the music or that time frame have a hard time connecting. Some reviewers can't believe what I'd written. However, like I mentioned, I lived in a small village, I lived through those times and those experiences.

I am enamored by the beautiful promos, which are AI, that are plastered on social media sites. They are eye-catching. Some day I'd like to learn how to make them.

After more than a year, closer to two years, my latest book is in the hands of The Illustrated Author, Melissa Stevens. Fingers-crossed I can get this into the world early next year.

Here's the blurb for RUTHLESS KINGDOM

Born under a scarlet moon, Avianna Morningstar should have been revered and feared, just as the prophecy proclaimed. But Avia is taken to a remote realm where she would be safe from the anarchy festering in the Kingdoms, meanwhile her potential as a sorceress is all but extinguished.

A sinfully attractive tracker is tasked with bringing Avia back to a homeland she has never known in hopes of awakening the power that has lain dormant within her.

The Kingdoms of Verdae and Inkwood are intrigued and unsettled by the sudden return of the king’s illegitimate daughter. And troublesome is the coiling and churning of forbidden black magic throughout the land.

Piqued by the alleged prophecy, the council begins preparations for a Royal Tournament, a competition of magical skills and stamina intended to cull the incompetent. The ultimate sacrifice for weakness is death. In a desperate bid to survive, Avia must learn to unleash her powers.

Regardless, she soon discovers the tournament is a tactical diversion in order to assassinate the king and conquer Verdae. Avianna is merely a pawn in this treacherous realm.

Taglines:

Two Kings. Two Kingdoms.

Betrayal cuts deep as one king vows to rule them all.

Snared in a web of deceit, Avia is the unwitting crux.
